Remember when you were a kid? The world seemed large, magnificent and certainly more mysterious. As we get older, we often forget to see through the fresh lens of youth. This photo/poetic essay encourages that childlike view, and may inspire you to stop, look, listen and feel the magic around us. Take the photo tour

Christopher Brown has practiced fine-art photography in Boulder since 1969. “I think of myself as a professional sightseer, an explorer, a Curious George,” Brown says. “When I go out to photograph, I am going on a voyage of discovery: I want to visit new places and see new things, or see old things more deeply than I have before.” His work has appeared in exhibitions, museums and magazines nationwide, and he recently completed a commission to photograph Boulder’s Open Space and Mountain Parks. Jack Collom is the author of 21 books and chapbooks of poetry, including Exchanges of Earth & Sky (Fish Drum Press, NYC, 2006). “I’m learning more and more to treat language like a field of nature,” Collom says, “a variety-pack of energies that slide between order and chaos.” An adjunct professor at Naropa University, he teaches Ecology Lit and Writing Outreach, and has been awarded two Poetry Fellowships by the National Endowment for the Arts. In 2001, the city of Boulder declared a day in his honor. Contact him at 303-444-1886.
