editor's note
Dear Reader:
Every time we publish Boulder County Home & Garden Magazine, the strength of our community inspires me to grow our efforts. From the gracious residents who open their homes and gardens to us, to the building and landscaping professionals who support our mission, Im struck by how were all privileged to be a part of this community.
Im also glad for the many readers who call or e-mail me with questions about materials theyve seen in the magazine, or to suggest story ideas, or to offer their homes and yards as potential features. Your interest keeps us working to better serve you.
This issue is full of Boulder County residents whose creativity amazes me. Artist Rebecca DiDomenicos boundless energy and focus have turned her home into a remarkable haven for her art. Sherry Harts Art Farm inspires children to unleash their artistic expression. Metal artist Cha Chas garden is a creative blend of whimsy and beauty, and a magical setting for her moonlit tea parties. Photographer Leslie Van Groves garden is full of fairies, gnomes and other beings that delight children every summer solstice. After years of working in childhood education, Pam Creswell retired and redecorated her gorgeous home, which exudes peace and tranquility through her design choices and the magnificent setting.
Thanks to these individuals for sharing their special places and stories with our readers.
In addition to great residents, Boulder County also has many talented professionals who can help you achieve your goals for your home and garden. If you enjoy this magazine, please consider supporting our advertisers when its time to remodel, plant, paint, redecorate or build.
It is summer (yea!), so this issue also focuses on seasonal topics. Learn about the newest in high-tech and beautiful patio furniture, and learn how to layer window treatments for more efficient heating and cooling. (By the way, ceiling fans have come a long ways since the days of globe lights and blades!)
If gardenings on your mind, read about heirloom tomatoes, bees, roses and flowers for late-summer and fall color.
Now Im ready to bite into my first delicious heirloom and plant some flowers. Im also going to relax on my patio and enjoy the view. Have a lovely summer, and please keep sending us your ideas and suggestions.
Sincerely,
Carol S. Brock
