tips | what's on your window?

The direction from which sunlight enters a window governs the choice of window treatments. This guide can help you select the best treatments for your windows.

North-facing windows have pleasant, consistent light, as well as the coldest exposure. Look for energy-efficient treatments to retain winter heat.

South-facing windows have bright light year-round and maximum winter sunlight exposure. Choose treatments that reduce UV rays and glare, but keep summer heat out and winter heat in.

East-facing windows have bright, warm, morning light and significant summer sunlight exposure. Protect furnishings with window treatments that reduce UV rays.

West-facing windows have the hottest afternoon light and extreme summer sunlight exposure. Select layering treatments that work together to reduce heat, glare and UV rays.
