pillow talk

winter 06

Sleep pillows are typically filled with soft, long-lasting, natural down, synthetic fiberfill in different densities or therapeutic, hypoallergenic foam. Choose a filling and density that best suits your needs. Stomach and toss-and-turn sleepers might consider down, which adjusts to any sleeping position. Back sleepers need good neck support, so a medium-density pillow might work well. Side sleepers require proper spine alignment and could go with synthetic or foam.

Here’s a guide to decorative pillows.

Bolster. A long, narrow pillow.

Boudoir. A small rectangular pillow.

Cushion. A small round or square pillow.

Euro. A large square pillow measuring 26 inches by 26 inches.

Sham. A decorative pillow covering that can have cording, flanges or ruffles (or not).
